The Florence Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened on Middleton Street in Florence Saturday afternoon.
The shooting happened in the Woodmont area around 2:00 p.m. Saturday.
The victim died at the scene.
The Florence County Coroner’s Office identifies the victim as Vernita White, 19. She lived at the house where the shooting happened, according to coroner Keith von Lutcken.
The body will be autopsied Monday morning at MUSC in Charleston.
According to Lt. Drulis with Florence Police, Deangelo Thompson, 26, is in custody in connection to the homicide.
