The Manna House non-profit organization in Florence provided Thanksgiving meals to people who not otherwise receive one.
The charity serves as a food pantry for the less fortunate. Dozens of volunteers started helping out around 6 a.m. on Thursday to make sure people around the community have a hot meal during the holidays.
“I’m so grateful for these selfless volunteers who came out to share their Thanksgiving with us and to help live our mission,” said executive director Daphine Tedder.
For the last 32 years, this has been a yearly tradition for the non-profit organization, and members say they don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.
Plates were filled with mac and cheese, turkey, mashed potatoes, and a dinner roll. The organization says on a day like today, they serve meals for more than 100 people.
“To me it’s like work, it’s something that I enjoy doing and when I go home it will feel like I made a difference in someones life,” said Tedder.
Eugene White has been coming to The Manna House for more than 15 years, and he says he’s grateful for the organization has done for him and others who need it the most.
“It makes me feel good. There’s people out there that don’t have any food to eat. Some people are in better shape than others, and we should be thankful for what have,” said White.
