MULLINS, SC (WBTW) – A farming neighborhood in Marion County is mourning the death of a man, who authorities say was killed by a bull on his farm.
The Marion County coroner’s office says the body of 43-year-old Brian Collins was discovered on his French Road farm Wednesday morning.
James Page says he was heartbroken to hear about the death of Collins, who was his neighbor.
“I’ve known Brian for a long time, ever since he was a little fella,” Page said. “It hit really hard. We found out there had been an accident in the neighborhood. I saw the cars go by, police cars go by.”
Collins’s body was taken to a hospital for x-rays and coroner Jerry Richardson says Collins died from injuries caused by a bull. An autopsy isn’t planned on Collins’s body.
Page says he and others in the rural neighborhood were heartbroken to hear about the death of someone some of them saw grow up.
“Brian was such a fine, young man,” said Page. “He was in school with our children. He was a fine, young Christian man, a fine boy. He’s about as good as they come.”
Page says his heart is with the Collins family as they mourn Brian’s death.
“He’s just a fine, good-natured fella,” Page said. “It’s a shame that bad things happen to good people.”
Collins’s twin brother Ryan declined an on-camera interview, but says his brother Brian was always there for him.
Ryan Collins also says he was shocked by his brother’s death because Brian had raised the bull from when it was born.
