Meagan Johnson with the Miracle League of Florence County joined News13 NOW at 9 a.m. to talk about the organization’s upcoming oyster roast. It is a major fundraiser for the Miracle League.
The league provides an opportunity for people with special needs to participate in adapted baseball games.
In the last year, the league in Florence opened a new field specifically designed for the adapted game. It includes rubberized, soft, level surfaces to accommodate wheelchairs and runners of various abilities. Now the league hopes to add “phase 2” to the field with a concession stand, family restrooms and a storage building.
A major fundraiser to help the league is coming up on Saturday, January 27. The Miracle League’s 4th Annual Oyster Roast will be at Southern Hops Brewing Company. The roast is from 6 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $30 each or $50 for a pair.
A cash bar, all-you-can-eat oysters, a silent auction and chicken bog are part of the event. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Florence County Recreation Office, online at www.southernhops.com/store, or by emailing miracleleagueofflocty@gmail.com.
