Saturday was the 8th annual Historic Marion Runfest 5k.
The race included both walking and running events as well as the annual chili cook-off and beer garden, according to the race’s website.
Pam Jones, the Runfest Coordinator, said they have seen lots of local people as well as those from out of the state. 80% of the runners today were from out of town.
“It averages between a hundred and a hundred and twenty five we’d like to see it grow but if it doesn’t this is a perfect number of people.” Jones said about the race attendance.

Fastest Overall Female – Cassie Hitch, from Florence SC – 24:12
Fastest Overall Male – Jonathan Valone, from Hartsville,SC – 20:14
Fastest Female Masters Overall – Liz Whitley, from Darlington SC – 27:03
Fastest Male Masters Overall – Billy Pettigrew – 23:21
