Marion police chief leaving department after investigation

MARION, SC (WBTW) – Marion Police Chief Dewayne Tennie will leave the department today, the city announced in a press release Wednesday.

Tennie had been on paid administrative leave since at least the beginning of the month. SLED was also investigating allegations against him. Neither the city nor SLED has provided more information.

City council recently voted to negotiate a severance package for Tennie. The city announced Wednesday they had reached an agreement.

Lt. Tony Flowers will serve as interim chief of police, the city said.
