The City of Marion celebrated the 27th annual Foxtrot festival on Main street.

“My family is from here and I never expected all these people to be out here today. I’m surprised and we’re just thankful to be a part of the event right now,” said vendor, Latoria Kenion.

The festival kicked off with a full day of activities as hundreds of people filled the streets.

“This is a yearly event that they put on for the community,” said vendor, Wendy Charles.

The festival was organized back in the 90’s as a non-profit organization to promote the city and its history.

“It’s a great opportunity for us to get out, network, and see all the people coming together for a great cause,” said Charles.

Activites began with more than 200 participants in the annual parade along with vendors, bounce houses, carnival rides and plenty of food. A few vendors were excited to join the fun for the first time.

“It’s been a great for us. It gives us time to reach out the community, give back and also gives us time to promote our business,” said Kenion.

Due to bad weather, the event was cancelled last year but city officials and several volunteers are glad to be back, bigger than ever.

“It’s been very peaceful out here, everyone has been getting along and everybody has been buying icys, so that’s good,” said Kenion.
