As Hurricane Florence continues to make its way towards the southeast, residents are preparing ahead of time.

The Lowe’s Home Improvement store off Freedom Boulevard in Florence was full of shoppers purchasing generators and other storm supplies.

“Right now we’re looking for water and the shelves are clear. We stopped at Walgreens and the shelves were cleared. We decided to bypass the water and come to Lowe’s for batteries,” said Melinda Evans, a Florence resident.

Shoppers have been lining up since Sunday morning stocking up, but other residents were driving from store to store trying to find items.

“We’ve been preparing way before. As soon as we heard the news, we started preparing. We bought water, canned foods and more,” said Josiel Gonzalez, a resident in Florence.

One shopper from Bishopville said, he ordered his generator through the-phone because several stores near his home were sold out.

“Hopefully it will pass by us. I hope everyone is safe,” said Kendrick Hill.

The Lowe’s Home Improvement store off Freedom Boulevard will have a new shipment of generators Monday morning at 6 a.m.
