DILLON, SC (WBTW) – A Lake View couple died after their car ran off the side of a bridge and fell into the water below, according to the Dillon County coroner’s office.
Dillon County Coroner Donnie Grimsley says the crash happened on Joann Branch Road in the Lake View area Monday. The coroner was called to the scene around 11:45 a.m.
The vehicle reportedly ran off the bridge into the water.
The coroner identified the victims as Clifford Carl Cole, 73, and his wife, Rhonda Sue Cole, 65, both of Lake View. The coroner says they died of asphyxiation due to drowning.
South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
