Businesses around Main Street in Lake City will soon see change as city officials look at adding a roundabout at the intersection of Church and Main Streets.

They hope this safety improvement project helps reduce accidents and traffic.

The city administrator believes with a new college coming and 90 percent of business running on Main Street, it’s what’s best for the city.

But, many businesses around the area are not on board.

“Not everyone is going to like every single thing and we certainly understand that, and we’ve worked really hard to try to address some of the concerns for folks who are against have. But, I will say that the vast majority of downtown businesses are in support of it because they know it’s going to keep people safe,” said Stephanie Snowden, Lake City Administrator.

There’s not an official date on when construction will start.
