LATTA, SC (WBTW) – Pictures into the WBTW newsroom show homes in Latta surrounded by flood waters.
Latta Town Administrator Jarett Taylor says in a Facebook post that the town prepared for the heavy rain and potential flood waters by staging emergency equipment and preparing sandbags.
“We have prepared best we know how,” says Taylor in the post.
The town leader says prior to the flooding that drains were cleared, debris was removed from power lines, and as many citizens as possible were warned of the potential for flooding. An emergency center for operations was also established and the town stocked up on food and fuel.
“I feel comfortable saying that the Town of Latta employees have given it their best in preparation,” Taylor adds.
The town prepared with numerous other agencies to be ready for the flooding and a shelter is available at 134 Latimer Street.
