A non-profit organization gives back to people who are in need of basic needs in the Pee Dee after Hurricane Florence.
Over two hundred families in Darlington County waited about an hour Thursday afternoon to receive items such as food, water, napkins and baby supplies.
Harvest Hope Pee Dee partnered up with the Darlington long term recovery group to distribute disaster recovery needs at the New Vision Community Outreach Center.
“It’s still not over for some of these families that have been impacted and we still want to make sure that we meet those needs,” said Nicole Echols, donors relations manager for Harvest Hope.
Many lost their homes, and are still rebuilding after the storm.
“I’m glad that they’re doing this program because a lot of people don’t have food. A lot of people are messed up, and this is a good thing that they’re doing. I pray they continue this,” said flood victim Mary Blackmon.
Organizaers said most people who lined up can’t afford a hot meal for their families or don’t have cleaning supplies to fix their homes.
“We see them travel from all over because you don’t know when and where their impact is. There’s a pocket of people who have suffered because of Hurricane Florence and they will come from wherever because they have been impacted and they will get food served today,” said Echols.
