FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – More than 2,300 Florence School District One employees got a welcome this week from the new district superintendent.
The annual back to school celebration happened at the Florence Center Monday morning
The event featured speeches from Florence One teacher of the year, Megerlyn Davis and a motivational speaker.
Superintendent Dr. Richard O’Malley also laid out the district’s goals for the 2018-2019 school year.
“We’ve got a great staff, trying to motivate them today for a new school year where we feel that we can bring the Florence one schools to be one of the top rated Districts in the state of South Carolina,” Dr. O’Malley said.
The district’s new brand was also discussed with employees at the event.
“The core message here is that we are Florence School District One; united behind one mission, one goal, and that’s student achievement and putting students first. We’ve got a great enthusiasm for all of our staff and we’ve got an exciting year filled with innovative projects and just great, great, teaching and learning which will be happening throughout our school district,” said Dr. O’Malley.
District one students also took part in the program by reading essays and putting on musical performances.
