FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – A police officer injured in the October ambush attack in Florence has returned to work on Tuesday.
Sgt. Scott Williamson returned to limited duty, according to Lt. Mike Brandt. Sgt. Williamson received multiple gunshots, including one to the head, in the ambush shooting on Oct. 3 that killed two officers and injured five others.
Greetings on social media celebrated his return: “Sending much love to Scott Williamson and his amazing family on this momentous day!” was posted on the page of Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
Sgt. Williamson spent several weeks in Atlanta recovering from his injuries and returned home in early January with an escort from his fellow officers. He has been with Florence PD for about 15 years and is a sergeant in the crime scene unit.
Eight people were shot during the shooting, including seven law enforcement officers. Sgt. Carraway was killed in the shooting and Inv. Farrah Turner died on Oct. 22.
