Florence fire crews responded to a structure fire on N. Dargan Street on Monday.

Crews responded to 803 N. Dargan Street around 7 p.m. for a structure fire and found fire coming from the front and back of the structure, according to a press release from Battalion Chief Chris Johnson, with the City of Florence. Crews had the fire under control in about 10 minutes and one person was treated on scene by Florence County EMS for minor injuries to the hand.

After the fire was extinguished, crews determined that the fire started in the front room of the house, where combustible materials were placed too close to a kerosene heater.

The FFD reminded people to ensure heating sources are away from combustibles and that homes have working smoke alarms.
