Florence-Darlington Tech president resigns

The president of the Florence-Darlington Technical College has resigned Thursday.

According to Clay Williams, the FDTC Director of Public Relations, the Florence-Darlington County Commission for Technical Education board voted tonight to accept Dr. Ben Dillard’s resignation and retirement effective immediately.

The board voted to appoint Edward Bethea as acting president until a suitable candidate is found. Bethea is the current interim Vice-President for Academic Affairs.

The college has had ongoing money problems and a dispute with the Federal Department of Education. The college would not comment on if Dr. Dillard’s resignation had anything to do with those issues.
