FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – The Florence County Sheriff’s Office and Academy Sports in Florence surprised 30 kids with new bicycles and helmets on Tuesday.
The surprise was a part of an annual holiday donation event sponsored by the FCSO and Camp Pee Dee Pride.
This year is the 17th anniversary of Academy’s annual bike donation. The program occurs in December and will benefit nearly 5,500 children at more than 120 donation events in the 16 states where Academy store can be found.
“With everything that we do this time of year with the craziness of the holidays and the shopping and everything, this has been a joy. We’ve been building up to this for a couple weeks now,” said Al Bishop, Academy Sports and Outdoors store director.
“It’s a good idea because some parents maybe weren’t able to get everything that their child wanted. So, this is a good way to give kids something to look forward to, maybe an early Christmas present,” said parent Shaquanna Bennett.
