FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – Florence County moved to (Operational Condition) OPCON 1 at 6:00 a.m. Thursday. The Emergency Operations Center is fully activated and the county’s Emergency Management Division staff continues to monitor and prepare for Hurricane Florence.

OPCON 1 is the highest state of emergency operations. It indicates that a disaster or emergency situation is in effect and that full-fledged emergency response operations are ongoing. Additionally, the county’s Emergency Operations Center is fully staffed and at 24-hour operation.

The county’s Emergency Management Division, in conjunction with S.C. Emergency Management and the National Weather Service, will continue to monitor the storm closely and update the public on the threat for the Florence area, residents and visitors.
