Florence County imposes evacuations and countywide curfew as Hurricane Florence approaches

Florence County has imposed evacuations and a countywide curfew as Hurricane Florence approaches.

On Thursday, Florence County Council issued a proclamation declaring a State of Emergency for all of Florence County due to Hurricane Florence. In accordance with the proclamations, officials have implemented the following: 

County officials say the danger to the public will increase as darkness falls, and visibility is further reduced. Officials also ask residents to not attempt to enter flooded areas as it could pose an immediate threat to your safety.

The City of Florence Police Department will require local businesses to close at 8 p.m. in compliance with the mandatory curfew.

“It is understood that some inconvenience will occur due to this requirement. This action by both Florence County and the City of Florence is in the interest of public safety,” says a press release from the city.
