Family and friends of Maxwell Gabriel “Bubba” Moody are honoring his life after he died of carbon monoxide poisoning on Sunday. Moody was 18-years-old and was at a clubhouse on McDowell Court in Latta when the incident happened.

Dillon County Coroner Donnie Grimsley said the death was accidental.

On Wednesday, there was a service held for Moody at Cooper Funeral Home in Dillon. According to Moody’s friends, he was obsessed with driving pick-up trucks, so they wanted to do something special before the service.

They gathered at the Goody’s parking lot in Dillon to drive their trucks for him one last time.

“Max’s legacy will live on through every one of these people. Each one of these trucks, and in our hearts,” said his friend, Dino James. “His truck will ride again, loud and proud down these roads. I made him that promise,” his sister Taylor Moody added.

People, who knew him, said he loved music, mud bogging and playing with duck calls. Many were shocked when they received the news that he was gone.

“Why did it have to be him? Why? He was so young. Why is he gone this early,” said his sister Taylor. “He was doing good. He had a job, and people who loved him very well.”

Another teenager remains hospitalized after also suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning. Officials have not released his name yet.
