A Marion County woman was killed after being struck during a car chase near Mullins on Wednesday afternoon.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office offered condolences on their Facebook page Thursday morning. Floyd was a retired food service worker for the Marion County School District, a great grandmother, and was well known in the community for baking cakes.

“Well I think from all her years of service working in the school system after she retired, she just continued the love of cooking, baking, and catering,” said granddaughter Cassandra Wilson.

On Saturday, News13 spoke to the Floyd family and they say she was an amazing person who will never be forgotten.

“She was a very loving, caring person. She would do anything she could for anyone. I mean she was  just a special person. Every time I talked to her, she would never go without saying, Cassandra I love you,” said  Wilson.

The Floyd family said she was a woman with a big heart, “She was very serious about family and keeping everyone close together,” said Wilson.

Funeral services for Donnie Floyds will begin at 2pm on Thursday at the First Friendship Church and she will be laid to rest at Riverside cemetery in Nichols.
