OLANTA AREA, SC (WBTW) – One person has died and two others were injured in a crash in Florence County. 

The crash happened around 4:36 p.m. on Monday on High Hill Rd. about two miles off of US 378, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

A 2017 pick-up truck was traveling east on High Hill Rd., when it ran off the road and struck a tree, according to Cpl. Sonny Collins, with the SCHP. There were three people in the truck and the driver was killed.

Late Monday, Florence County Coroner Keith Von Lutcken identified the person who died as Jeffrey Wayne Godwin, 42. Godwin was the driver of the truck.

One passenger was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and another passenger was flown by helicopter to an area hospital, Cpl. Collins said. None of the people in the truck were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
