DILLON, SC (WBTW) – A body was recovered from a home after a fire in Dillon County Wednesday morning, the coroner’s office confirms.
Dillon County Coroner Donnie Grimsley says the victim was found deceased in the home on Dixie Court off of Highway 301 North in Dillon County while crews worked to control the fire. The coroner identified the victim as 68-year-old Guy Lane, of Dillon. Lane lived inside the home, Grimsley confirms.
Dillon County Fire Chief Albert Mumford says crews were called to the house fire on Dixie Court around 7:30 a.m. and cleared the scene by 10 a.m. Mumford says the home was engulfed in flames when fire crews arrived and the fire is now under investigation.
Agents with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division are assisting with the investigation.
Fire officials have not commented on what caused the fire.
