The Dillon County Coroner has identified the person who was found in a truck on Highway 57 on Wednesday.
According to Dillon County Coroner Donnie Grimsley, Charles Andrew Carter, 81, of Bishopville, died from drowning.
Grimsley says a body was found in a truck on Wednesday on Hwy 57, also known as Carolina Church Road, north of Little Rock.
According to Cpl. Sonny Collins, with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pickup was traveling on Carolina Church Road/Hwy 57. The vehicle left the roadway during high water and was found submerged off of the side of the roadway. The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle and was found deceased inside.
Collins says this death makes South Carolina’s ninth weather-related fatality due to Hurricane Florence.
