Darlington, SC (WBTW) – The Tradition Continues at Darlington Raceway this Labor Day weekend. On Saturday, August 31st, for the Sport Clips Haircuts VFW 200. Then on Sunday, September 1, 2019, is the 70th anniversary of the Bojangles’ Southern 500!
Darlington Raceway is also celebrating the 1990-94 era of the sport for the track’s Throwback Weekend in 2019. This is the 5th year of the throwback weekend marketing platform the track introduced in 2015 that celebrates the history and heritage of the sport.
The track will also be honoring David Pearson on race weekend. Pearson, who passed away back in November, is a NASCAR Hall of Famer (class of 2011). The Spartanburg, SC native holds the Darlington track record with 10 NASCAR Cup Series wins. He is also second all-time in career NASCAR wins with 105.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be competing in the Saturday, Aug. 31 XFINITY Series Sport Clips Haircuts VFW 200 race at Darlington Raceway. It is the only race he will compete in this season.
