DARLINGTON, SC –  Darlington County Council passed second reading Monday night on an ordinance to suspend blue laws, according to County Administrator Charles Stewart.

The change would allow businesses to open before 1:30 pm on Sundays.  It would also protect workers who do not want to work on Sundays for religious reasons.

Council also approved second reading on an ordinance to give property owners the option to pay property taxes in installments rather than a lump sum.

Both ordinances will be up for third and final reading at the council’s next meeting on Monday, May 6.
