Darlington Country Club homeowners frustrated with local, state officials after flooding

Some homeowners in Darlington are frustrated with local and state officials after their yards were flooded following Hurricane Florence.

Homeowners in the Darlington Country Club, next to where Black Creek runs, say they weren’t expecting problems.

“Because they had told us we were going to be flooded, then we called emergency management and they told us no that they weren’t releasing any floodgates, we were in no danger of flooding, and no one was being evacuated,” says Suzy Campbell, who lives beside Black Creek in the Darlington Country Club. “I went on and left and went to stay with family and when we came out yesterday everything out here was under water. You know, I kind of felt betrayed.”

Black Creek’s water level set a record on Monday and is expected to stay at moderate flood stage for a several days.
