LAKE CITY, SC (WBTW) – Fire crews from at least five fire departments were called to help battle a reported fire at the NanYa Plastics plant outside Lake City Tuesday afternoon.

Nan Ya Plastics Corporation, America spokesperson, Dana T. Welch says the fire started from a dryer and is still under investigation. 

On Wednesday, April 25, the Senior Supervisor of Safety, Health, Environmental Department for Nan Ya Plastics Corporation, America, South Carolina Plant, Dana T. Welch, said in a press release that the fire started in a dryer line.

The release states, “The employees of the Fiber I section were evacuated from the building, 911 was called and local Fire Departments responded to the plant site to handle the fire. 

Employees from the surrounding buildings were also evacuated temporarily until the fire was brought under control just after 17:00. There were no injuries.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the management of the plant.
