A missing Darlington County man has died of an apparent drowning outside of Lamar, Saturday afternoon.
According to the Darlington County Coroner J T Hardee, Albert Willis, 76, of Darlington County was found Saturday afternoon and pronounced dead.
Willis told family members he was going fishing and when he did not return home they reported him missing. He was later found in a small pond outside of Lamar where he apparently drowning. Officers from multiple agencies were searching for Willis near Governors Run Drive in Lamar.
According to Lt. Robert Kilgo with the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office, Darlington deputies along with SC Department of Natural Resources and the Dive Team with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office all assisting in the search.
