DARLINGTON, SC (WBTW) – South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to a pedestrian hit by a car Monday morning on Society Hill Road.
According to Cpl. Sonny Collins, a Honda Accord was traveling south on Society Hill Road around 3 a.m. Monday morning, when the car hit a pedestrian lying in the road. The pedestrian was killed in the crash.
Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee identified the man who died as 33-year-old Freddie Hughes Watkins, Jr.
“If you know this person or have knowledge of this person please contact the Darlington County Coroner’s Office at 843-398-4920,” Hardee says.
South Carolina Highway Patrol MAIT team (Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team) and troopers are investigating the crash. Cpl. Collins says no charges are expected.
