The Darlington County Coroner has released the identity of a man who was struck by a vehicle and killed in a crash on Saturday morning.
Coroner Todd Hardee has identified the person killed as Travis Gaskins, 25, Hartsville. Gaskins was lying in the roadway when he was struck by a car, Hardee said.
The incident happened just north of Hartsville on North Fifth Street (Hwy. 15 Business) near Nicholson Road around 5:10 a.m. Saturday, according Lance Corporal David Jones with the S.C. Highway Patrol. The driver was traveling North in a 1998 Chevy truck when he or she hit the person lying in the roadway.
