The Darlington County Board of Education approved the inspection and material testing services contracts for two new Darlington County schools Monday night.
The contracts, with Mead & Hunt, are for a school in the Lamar area and one in the Hartsville area. Each contract totals $159,934.75.
Board members Dr. Thelma Dawson, Connell Delaine, Secretary Charles Govan, Wanda Hassler, Warren Jeffords and Chairman Jamie Morphis voted ‘yes’ to the motion to approve the contract for the Lamar-area school, according to agenda details from the Darlington County School Board.
According to previous documents, the Darlington County School District proposed the construction of a new 83,000 square foot elementary school, to be constructed near the intersection of Highway 401, Windham Town Road, and Country Club Road in Lamar.
