A 10-year-old boy in the Pee Dee has had four open-heart surgeries, now the community is raising money to help other families going through something similar.
“When he was born he had his pulmonary valve closed and it didn’t allow blood flow to his lungs. He ended up having a surgery at two weeks old and then again at four weeks old to repair that,” said mother, Alisha Brady.
William Brady and his family decided to check into the Ronald McDonald house in Charleston, where they received tremendous amount of help.
“One in 100 babies are born with it, and we were unaware of anything like that until my son was born. Families go to the house while their children are sick, and if they can’t pay the Ronald McDonald house doesn’t make you pay,” said Brady.
People from all over the Carolina decided to ride for a great cause and give back.
“The house works strictly off donations. I feel truly blessed that we do this because it takes an army to raise a kid and it’s absolutely amazing to see this turn out,” said Brady.
The one advice Alisha has for expecting mothers, “Make sure you get checked. Make sure you have the right kind of test too,” said Brady.
