The child who died in a Darlington County crash on Friday has been identified.
According to Darlington County Coroner J. Todd Hardee, Sha’Niyah Roary died in the crash. Roary was in the first grade at St. John’s Elementary School.
Hardee previously told News13 the crash happened around 4:30 p.m. on Friday on Greenfield Road near Brooks Drive. He also said Roary died when the vehicle driven by her father collided with a tree.
The incident is being investigated by South Carolina Highway Patrol, the sheriff, and the coroner.
According to Roary’s obituary, she died a few weeks before her 7th birthday. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Darlington.
Hardee previously said Roary was in the second grade.
