A recycling program is helping a humane society in Darlington County.

The “Cans for Critters” program is “a recycling program that supports the Darlington County Humane Society,” the program’s Facebook page says. The program recycles aluminum and steel cans.

“Cans for Critters” has two drop-off locations: the Darlington County Animal Shelter at 1701 Animal Control Boulevard in Darlington and the Nurses on Call building at 2065 E. Bobo Newsom Highway in Hartsville.

The program has raised over $1,000 for the humane society so far this year, according to a post on the page. Both donation sites were cleaned on Monday, which resulted in $512 for the program.
