Barn destroyed by fire along I-95 in Florence

FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – Wind helped fan the flames that destroyed a barn in Florence.

It happened on Highway 52 near the I-95 interchange behind a truck stop.

According to Howard Worrell, the fire chief for the West Florence Fire Dept. says the barn was collapsing when his crews got there.

Worrell says the bard did not have electricity and the owner did not have insurance.

There was lumber, furniture, and paper files inside.

Worrell says firefighters used about 2,000 gallons of water to keep the fire from spreading into some nearby woods.

Worrell says the sheriff’s office is investigating the fire.
