Sleep in Heavenly Peace is making sure kids around the Pee Dee have a good night’s sleep.

Dozens of volunteers with the non-profit organization and kids from the Sneed Beta Club spent their Saturday morning at the West Florece Baptist church to build beds for those in need.

“We’re building beds for children who may be sleep on the floors or have inadequate sleep situations,” said West Florence chapter president, James Joye.

Joye and his wife decided to start this organization back in April to provide pillows, blankets, and matresses. Each bed is made with donated wood and takes about 4 hours to built.

“We absolutely love every part of it. When we take a bed to a childs home and just see their face light up, there’s no better feeling in the world. Knowing you’re doing something for somebody that can never repay you,” said Lauren Joye.

This year, volunteers are hoping to double the number from last year. ” We built 50 last year and this year we’re shooting for 100 bed,” said Lauren.

“We have more bed request than we have beds right now, so what we’re trying to do is reach out to the community and reach out to sponsors and receive donations. We always need matresses, bedding, pillows. We would love to have sponsors that are willing to help us every year,” said Lauren.
