DILLON, SC (WBTW) – The Dillon County coroner said a person was found dead Tuesday after a house fire on Harlees Bridge Road.
Dillon County Fire Chief Albert Mumford says the department responded to the structure fire around 3 p.m.
The call originally indicated that someone could be trapped inside and as of Tuesday evening, according to Chief Mumford.
Dillon County coroner Donnie Grimsley identified the victim Wednesday as 78-year-old Eliouse Brown of Hamer. According to the coroner, she died as a result of the fire and no foul play is expected.
In addition to Dillon County fire, crews from Oakland Volunteer Fire Department and City of Dillon Fire Department came to help put the structure fire out.
SLED has been called to the scene and investigators say they are unsure of how the fire began.
