MARLBORO COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – One person has died after a crash involving a dump truck and a truck hauling wood chips in Marlboro County.
The 2-vehicle crash happened around 10:35 a.m. on Thursday on SC Highway 79, according to Cpl. Sonny Collins, with the South Carolina Highway Patrol. A trash truck was stopped southbound on Hwy 79 for a pickup. A truck hauling wood chips came up behind the trash truck, was unable to stop, and veered into the northbound lanes, where it struck a dump truck traveling north on Hwy 79.
Cpl. Collins said the driver of the truck hauling wood chips died as a result of the crash.
Other people involved had minor injuries.
Lt. Trevor Murphy, with the Marlboro Co. Sheriff’s Office, previously said deputies were helping highway patrol with traffic control.
