FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – Florence School District One confirms four high-ranking staff members have resigned from their positions following “restructuring efforts” by the superintendent.
Spokesperson for the district, Pam Little-McDaniel, says four district leaders will leave their positions by the end of the school term.
Dr. Curt Boswell, director of testing and assessment, resigned and will leave the position at the end of the school year. Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services Lionel Brown resigned effective at the conclusion of the school year. Randy Koon, assistant superintendent for instruction, resigned effective June 30, and Director of Instructional Technology Jayne Boswell resigned, effective the conclusion of the school year.
“The restructuring efforts are directed by the Office of the Superintendent who is responsible for recommending the number and types of positions required to provide proper instructional personnel for the operation of school programs,” says Little-McDaniel in a written statement after refusing an on-camera interview to further explain the restructuring process.
WBTW also requested an interview with interim Superintendent Dr. Dan Strickland. That request was denied. Little-McDaniel provided the below statement.
“We have no further comments regarding the issue at this time, and we request that the privacy and dignity of the individuals who are affected be respected at this time.”
Dr. Strickland is serving as the district’s interim superintendent until the newly hired leader, Dr. Richard O’Malley, takes the position no later than August 3. It is unclear if Dr. O’Malley has any connection to the “restructuring.”
