The Pee Dee area veterans advisory council meets once a month with veterans from all over the Pee Dee.
The topic of concern on Thursday were projects and upcoming memorial day weekend events, but they did a little more after conducting business .
They named Eddie Collins of Florence as the Pee Dee veteran of the year.
“Just to be surrounded by them in the same room is an honor itself, but to be chosen for the veteran for the year that’s unbelievable,” says Collins
The council didn’t stop there. They also named Carolyn McMillan of Florence as the Pee Dee civilian of the year.
“It’s awesome. I’m so thankful. Like I said, the work I’ve done is speaking for me and I thank them so much,” McMillan said.
To show veterans gratitude, the Florence County Veteran Affairs Council and supporting sponsors will have billboards across the Pee Dee in June.
