The Pee Dee Fraternal Order of Police held a bar-b-que fundraiser Thursday for one of its own.
On February 21, 2015 , Hartsville Police Chief Jerry Thompson lost his home in a fire.
As for Thursday’s fundraiser at the Hartsville Fire Department, organizers say they had more than 1,100 presale orders.
“The idea that a community wants to help out, especially in the world we live in now where law enforcement seems to be looked at down upon a little bit, now the community is coming together to help one of our finest and I say that very genuinely Jerry is one of our finest,” said Terry Gainey with the Fraternal Order of Police.
Still no word on what caused the fire.
No one was hurt but the Thompsons did lose a family dog.
