MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – People were invited to play in the streets of Myrtle Beach Sunday, as the Market Common closed off some roads for its second Cyclovia event.

Cars were blocked off so people could ride and walk worry free. It rained off and on throughout the day which might have kept some people from the event, the crowd was noticeably smaller than the first Cyclovia held in November.

Those who did come out were still able to enjoy a variety of events and activities. There was a slow motion bike ride to see who could cross the finish line last.

The main draw however, was all about the freedom of the open road, eliminating cars so pedestrians could enjoy them.

Organizers say they would like to see more events like this in the future, in various parts of the city.

“There’s a possibility of maybe of 5 points, Ocean Boulevard, Marina Parkway. There’s so may opportunities so were trying to take things from different areas and pull it into ours. We all just want to make it fun, be active and have fun on the streets,” said Kristina Varinao, the events organizer.

Organizers want to hold at least two Cyclovia events each year. They’re hoping the next one will be this October or November, but haven’t settled on a location.
