MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Expect to start paying a parking fee if you visit downtown Myrtle Beach beginning Tuesday. Parking meters return March 1.
If you park in downtown Myrtle Beach, make sure to have some spare change available. Tuesday is the beginning of parking meter season. Lanier Parking will re-activate the meters so drivers can make the necessary deposits.
In a Facebook post, Myrtle Beach city leaders recognize that “while no one likes parking meters, they do good things.” The meters are used to identify which spaces are public, they encourage turnover so that more people can park, and they help pay for projects in the downtown area, such as the streetscape improvements and additional parking areas, according to city officials.
Parking meter season runs March 1 through October 31. Meters are enforced seven days a week from 9 a.m. through 12 a.m.
