NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – “Miles Davis,” the 10-year-old mastiff who was neglected by his owner, will soon get a new and loving home. Miles was found last month severely emaciated, weighing half of what a dog his size normally would.

The dog’s owner, Christian Fahnoe, 25, of James Island, was convicted of misdemeanor animal neglect on Tuesday, April 28th in Charleston Municipal Court. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail, which was suspended, if he pays a $500 fine and reimburses Charleston Animal Society $1,530 within 6 months for the medical care Miles received.

Fahnoe kept Miles in a closet in his home, full of garbage, glass and feces. When the dog was rescued by Charleston Police officers, Miles only weighed 75-pounds, when he should have weighed double that. Not only was Miles underweight, he was dehydrated and had a serious skin condition along with other ailments.

Miles has already had hundreds of people step forward, offering to adopt him and give him a loving home. The good news, he has already gained 23-pounds since late March now that he’s in the care of the Charleston Animal Society.

Charleston Animal Society Director of Public Health and Spay/Neuter Initiatives Dr. Lucy Fuller, DVM, said “If you want to so something meaningful for Miles, and all of the animals in our care, please adopt one of our adult dogs, or donate to our medical fund called ‘Toby’s Fund.’”
