MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – The Carolina Forest Rotary Club teamed up with Waccamaw Elementary School to help students in need get a new pair of shoes for the upcoming school year.

This is the fifth year the club has organized the event called the “Happy Feet Project.” Club members say it’s exciting to see these students pick out the shoes because for many of them, this is the first time they’ve received a brand new pair.

“They get to show them off the first day of school when they go in,” said the project chair, Andy Kiracofe. “It’s a great feeling for club members, the Waccamaw staff and students as well.”

Over 60 pairs of shoes were given out today. Staff members from the school were there to greet the families and then they were sent inside of Payless ShoeSource in the Coastal Grand Mall. Payless employees then measured the kids feet Carolina Forest Rotary Club members helped them pick out the perfect pair.
