MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW)- Event organizers with Palmetto Event Productions will offer additional parking options for the thousands of people expected to attend the three day Carolina Country Music Fest.
Organizer, Amie Lee, says there’s a $50 shuttle pass per person that covers 3 days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) to park in a lot at the former Myrtle Square Mall site (between 23rd and 27th Avenues North in downtown Myrtle Beach).
The pass allows people to ride motor coaches making continuous loops to the event downtown and back to the parking lot from noon to midnight every day.
Shuttle pass holders will have to show their printed receipt for their paid shuttle pass or paid receipt on their smart phone to parking lot attendees as they enter the lot the first time to receive a wristband they must wear for all three days.
Lee says it comes to roughly $16.50 per day per person. You can ride back and forth as many times per day as you would like, and come and go out of the parking lot as many times as you would like.
Since the lot is roughly 16 blocks from the event, Lee says the group felt offering a shuttle pass versus a parking pass was a much safer option, especially with the event concluding each night at 11:30 p.m. and not wanting to have thousands of people walking down the sidewalks on 17 Business, Ocean Blvd. or even Oak Street to get back to the shuttle/parking lot.
Lee adds the costs to make the old mall site operational impacted the prices. Those costs include motor coaches running a 13 hour day each day, port-a-johns, lighting, leasing fees, staffing to run the operation, signage, etc.
There will be other parking downtown on a first come, first serve basis.
