As the new year begins, many people have the resolution to be more active, to join a gym, to care more about their health. Physical activity certainly is an important part of living a long and enjoyable life. So News13 NOW at 9 a.m. hosted several health and fitness professionals on New Year’s Day to talk about options for staying active in the new year.

- Bontatibus explained some basics of Crossfit and also mixed martial arts and jiu-jitsu
- He also covered how children can get involved early and the range of ages that can be involved in martial arts

- Niehouse talked about Fit4Mom, which is fitness for moms in many stages from pregnancy to the early years of parenting.
- She explained the basics of workout options and also the “village” of support created among mothers who participate.

Body Back – 8 week body transformation including HIIT workouts, personal assessments, nutritional guidance, and accountability to not only get your body back but find a better stronger inner and outer strength.
Run Club – a fun program for any mom who was, is, or always wanted to be a runner. Some of our moms have never been a runner while others are training for half or full marathons. We often run 5k’s together all while training with our kiddos.

Sebastiani focused on the Silver Sneakers program, which focuses on fitness for older adults and aims to keep senior adults active and moving.
Taylor explained some group fitness options including classes focused on resistance training and cardio training.
Taylor also touched on the importance of maintaining mobility and flexibility through Tai Chi, Pilates and foam rolling.

Gruters explained how small group training and specific training plans may be a good find for some people.
Some classes cater to beginners, and some training plans help you stick to a program with organized workouts.
