MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW)- One person is dead after a shooting at Riptydz Oceanfront Bar and Grille, located on North Ocean Blvd., in Myrtle Beach.
According to a police report, a responding officer was on patrol in the area of 14th Avenue North and Kings Highway when they were flagged down for a possible fight in front of the bar around 1:15 a.m. on Sunday. Upon arriving, multiple people reported to police that they had heard gunfire coming from inside the bar.
Responding officers entered the building through a rear staircase as the building was being evacuated, the police report says. Multiple people also reported that a man was firing a weapon on the third floor of the building. Upon entering the roof, the responding officer saw the victim on the floor with a gunshot wound to the head.
Myrtle Beach police said the victim died from their injuries and the Horry County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 25-year-old Roger Ramos of Myrtle Beach.
Myrtle Beach police have identified the suspect as Jakkari Jaquille DeAndre Brown, 24, of Toccoa, Georgia. Warrants are pending for Brown for murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, unlawful use of a weapon, and carrying a pistol or firearm into the premise of a business selling alcohol, beer or wine.
Brown’s first court appearance is set for Monday.
In a statement on Facebook, RipTydz said Ramos was an employee and they will be closed until Wednesday for a private memorial service.
