One person dead, a second in the hospital after Fairmont shooting

FAIRMONT, N.C. (WBTW)- The Fairmont Police Department is investigating a shooting that killed one person and injured another on Saturday.

Detective Scott Jacobs says police responded to the Four Points Convenience Store on North Walnut Street around 2:00 p.m.

Officers say that’s when they received a call about the shooting. Police say two victims were taken to an area hospital but one man later died.

According to police, 23-year-old Derion Hinson of Fairmont died Saturday night from injuries in the shooting. Detective Jacobs says the second person is still in the hospital being treated.

Fairmont Police along with the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
